I wrote Shelf Patrol with the sole intent of making it as weird as possible. Shelf Patrol is very dreamlike, as is Keep it Together as a whole, so the lyrics are purely garbled nonsense that one might hear in a dream. The title "Shelf Patrol" is a dreamlike corruption of "Self Control", as I was listening to "No Self Control" by Peter Gabriel before I began writing this song.
lyrics
Hold me in
With your breath
Hold me in
If it suits your pleasure
I have been
Engaging in something
Hold me in
The clarion call is here for something
One more time
Maybe you should let him in
With your breath
For a beggar's opportunity
Hold me in
You think it's easy
Give me a sign that you were never there
It's not like I can't take it
Maybe with the right shoes
You can run from my question
The melting pot is boiling
I think you need a different pan
Here it comes with the strength of a thousand laces
Maybe it's for the best
If you told me I would have to waste it
I would tell you that I'd eat your face
Hold me in
Press your hands against me now
One more time
To hold back the tide
With your breath
You can start a counterrevolution
Hold me in
If you dare
