Composed over the Summer of 2013, "Sort Of (Not Really)" was born out of a frenzy of inspiration. At the time I was starting to become more confident in myself as a musician, as evidenced by the prominent bass and lead breaks included in a few songs. I was growing lonely and stagnant that summer, and the songs born from this period cover a wide range of emotional topics - friendship, growing, loneliness, anger. I wasn't really sure how I was feeling at the time, so I just wrote about anything and everything I could.

This album took on a brighter, more energetic tone as I came away from the darkness of "Keep it Together". I became less focused on experimenting and more concerned with honing my craft and perfecting my compositions. I practically strangled myself during the production of this album as I combed the tracks over and over again, fussing over mistakes and pursuing perfection. As such, much of "Sort Of" is hard-edged, poppy, and meticulously assembled. "Aggressor" and "Cztery Zero" were created to pry myself away from obsessive production and create more natural music.
